Bobbi Kristina Brown is reportedly awake after spending months on life support in a medically induced coma, her father Bobby Brown and his sister Tina Brown announced publicly over the weekend, but other sources close to the family claim there has been no change in the 22-year-old's condition.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Grammy Award-winning singer Whitney Houston, has been in a coma since late January, when she was found facedown in a bathtub at her residence in
suburban Atlanta, according to Us Weekly.
But Bobby Brown, 46, told the audience at a Frankie Beverly concert in Dallas on Saturday that his daughter had woken up.
Tina Brown, Bobby Brown's sister, made a similar
announcement on her Facebook page Sunday.
"So many messages, sorry can't answer them all right now but I will get to them later," she wrote in a message that no long appears on the page. "Just allow me this time with my family, yes, she woke up and is no longer on life support!!!!!:):) God is good!! Thanks for your prayers, still a process, but she is going to be ok:):):):)."
But sources close to the family say that Bobbi Kristina has
not yet regained consciousness, People magazine reported.
"As far as I know, there's been no change," the source said. "We're still hoping and praying that God will perform a miracle. We are leaving it in God's hands."
TMZ had another take on Bobby Brown's comments.
"It's unclear what Brown is really saying," the celebrity gossip site wrote. "On the one hand, if you take the first comment at face value it seems he's saying Bobbi Kristina is out of the coma she's been in since January 31st. But when Bobby says, 'She's watching me,' it makes it sound like something other than consciousness."
Bobbi Kristina Brown has remained in a long-term care facility in Georgia after spending weeks in two Atlanta hospitals. Her father, who has been by her side during most of the time, made his first public appearance since the incident at the Soul Food Festival in Los Angeles on April 11.
