Saxophonist Bobby Keys, who toured with the Rolling Stones, died Tuesday at age 70.
Known for his solo on the Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar,” Keys had been on tour with the band earlier this year before illness forced him to sit out.
He died at home in Franklin, Tennessee, People reported.
Keys played with numerous artists, including John Lennon, Carly Simon, BB King, and Eric Clapton.
The Rolling Stones and Keith Richards posted comments on Twitter.
Keys was born on the same day as Richards and was
good friends with him, according to Rolling Stone.
Keys was known for wild parties.
"I can't read music," Keys told Rolling Stone in 2012. "That's not where I come from musically. I come strictly from feeling, and that feeling comes from rock 'n' roll."
The news of Keys' death drew an outpouring of grief on Twitter.
