The Boeing 787 Dreamliner used its 18-hour test flight across 22 states to draw an outline of itself over America.
“Rather than fly in random patterns, the test team got creative, flying a route that outlined a 787-8 in the skies over 22 states,” a Boeing spokesman told Business Insider.
The outline pointed the plane’s nose toward Seattle, where Boeing was founded. Its wings cover land from northern Michigan to southern Texas, and the tail rests over Alabama.
The flight was a required test to check the endurance of the plane, and it seemed to be successful.
In February, Boeing’s test team spelled out “MAX” across Washington and Montana while testing a 737 MAX for an eight-hour flight.
Flights that make creative patterns are not too unusual nowadays, especially as flight tracking apps now make those paths easy for any aviation enthusiast to see.
Twitter had its own interesting ideas about the Boeing 787 test flight.
