Rumor has it that Penelope Cruz is set to be the next Bond girl. If it happens, Cruz would be the oldest Bond girl ever at age 40 when filming begins next summer.
Cruz, currently 39 and pregnant with her second child with husband Javier Bardem, is expected to give birth soon.

A source close to the film says, “
She got back into shape fast after the first baby and will no doubt regain her figure quickly this time. She’ll be a great Bond girl. Bond girls are always brainy as well as sexy, and that’s totally Penelope,” Yahoo! Movies reported.
"The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now," the source said.
Not much is known about the 24th James Bond film, other than Daniel Craig will star again as 007. “Skyfall” director Sam Mendes is said to be considering a return to the helm for the 24th Bond film.
As the newest Bond girl, Cruz would replace Honor Blackman as the oldest actress to play 007’s sexy co-star. British actress Blackman was 39 when she appeared in 1962’s “Goldfinger” as Pussy Galore.
Reactions around the Internet were mixed regarding Cruz’s casting.
One commenter at Inquisitr.com asked, "Am I the only one who thinks Cruz is the worst choice to be in a Bond film? Her acting is horrible and she talks very low and very oddly sometimes. This might be a bad Bond film."
But some thought the 40-year-old actress would be a good match for James Bond.
