Brad Pitt is known to be laid back. Earlier this year, he sat cool and composed while opening up about his struggles with alcohol addiction. He maintained his composure even when making those raw and deeply personal revelations, but in a new interview he has admitted that a fiery temper lurks beneath his cool demeanor.
The 55-year-old "Ad Astra" star spoke about his temperament in an interview with Anthony Hopkins for Interview Magazine.
Responding to comments from Hopkins about being "as easy going as ever," Pitt said that although that was his "gliding speed," he could lose control of his temper.
"I get sucked into something, and I can lose it. I take my hands off the wheel," he said.
"You're human," Hopkins said.
"I'm human," Pitt agreed.
Knowing this has not made it any easier for him to let go of his mistakes. Pitt admitted that there were many choices he was not proud of, but he is working on self-forgiveness and seeing how those "missteps" have led to "some wisdom."
The actor has spoken before about his "ugly sides," which he said was cathartic as he discussed them in the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings he has been attending since early 2018.
At the time, Pitt was discussing his battle with alcohol addiction, which "became a problem" in his marriage.
There are few reports of Pitt publicly losing his cool, but there have been rumors that he and his son Maddox became estranged after a 2016 altercation aboard a private plane. Angelina Jolie filed for divorce soon after.
