Rumors are flying that "True Detective" producers have tapped Brad Pitt to replace star Matthew McConaughey in the second season of the HBO crime drama.
"True Detective's" first season wrapped earlier this month with stars McConaughey and Woody Harrelson solving the mystery of the "Yellow King." But McConaughey surprised everyone when the actor announced at the Oscars that he would not be reprising his role as Rustin Cohle.
"No, I won’t be back for season two. Season one was finite," he said backstage at the March 2 awards ceremony.

Now, "True Detective" show-runners are reportedly thinking about casting Pitt as the star of the next season.
"Brad’s name has come up many times, it’s just a matter of what his
other commitments are," a source told HollywoodLife.com. "Brad has tight relations with HBO — he teamed up with Ryan Murphy last year to produce the HBO movie 'The Normal Heart.' I know everyone would be thrilled to have him onboard."
Internet users excitedly tweeted about the possibility of Pitt joining the critically acclaimed series.
