Brian Williams seemed unfazed by his daughter Allison Williams' explicit sex scene on Sunday's season four premiere of the hit HBO show "Girls," a far cry from the young woman's turn as Peter Pan in NBC's live holiday musical last month.
The veteran newsman, who has been anchor of NBC's "Nightly News" since 2004, didn’t address the risqué scene directly,
but told Vulture over the weekend that he has always supported his daughter's work as an actress.
"She's always been an actress," he told Vulture. "For us, watching her is the family occupation and everybody has to remember it's acting, no animals were harmed during the filming, and ideally nobody gets hurt."
Allison Williams, who's no stranger to awkward sex scenes on "Girls," told Vulture that she didn’t think twice about Sunday's and immediately started planning for it with her co-star, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, in mind.
"Because of my wiring, I read it in the script and I went into total action mode," she said. "I got everyone together and I was like, 'All right, Grace (in wardrobe), you and me — we're going to come up with something so ingenious that he is going to feel comfortable.'"
The scene was a far cry from her role in "Peter Pan Live." While reviews were lukewarm, "Peter Pan Live" pulled a 2.4 rating and 7 share in adults 18-49 and 9.21 million total viewers, more than double NBC's non-sports Thursday average that season. The show also beat runner-up CBS on the night by
50 percent, according to Variety.
