Bristol Palin spoke out this week about her canceled wedding to fiancé Dakota Meyer, calling the entire experience a "painful time."
News broke last week that Meyer, a 26-year-old former Marine who received the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama in 2011, had a "secret marriage" back in 2008 when he
was a teenager, according to RadarOnline.com.
Shortly after, the 24-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin called off the wedding, which was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.
Now, Palin has taken to her blog to address the "elephant-in-the-room."
"I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off," she wrote Tuesday. "I’m sure you’ve seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers."
It's still not clear whether the secret marriage was the reason for the cancellation of the wedding. Palin reportedly knew about the marriage, according to a May 18 Facebook post on Sarah Palin's page.
"Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about 'secret wives,' Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement," Bristol Palin wrote. "Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers."

In this week's blog post, Bristol Palin thanked her fans for sticking "with me through thick and thin."
"I know God's plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated," she wrote.
