Britney Spears does not appear to be in a hurry to end her dad's seven-year conservatorship over her personal and financial affairs, and now sources are saying it could last for life.
The legal arrangement between the pop star and her father Jamie Spears is working out fine and, in fact, the entertainer could not be in any better shape,
professionally or personally, a source told Us Weekly.
"There is no reason to break the conservatorship with everything working so well," the source close to the 33-year-old Spears told Us Weekly. "Everything is working perfectly under this arrangement and it will stay that way."
Spears' success had her on top of the world before she had a breakdown and was forced to enter a
psychiatric ward in January 2008, according to the New York Daily News. The singer was placed on a mental health evaluation hold at the UCLA Medical Center.
Before she entered treatment, family members reportedly tried to get her psychological help and stage an intervention after a series of mishaps involving "bizarre behavior," the Daily News noted at the time.
Jamie Spears was able to establish a conservatorship over his daughter after the incident, putting him in charge of her
personal needs and finances, TMZ reported.
"Fact is the conservatorships have worked remarkably well," the celebrity gossip site wrote. "Britney — who at her worst was on the verge of losing permanent custody of her kids — is now by any standard a great parent."
"Jamie and Britney's doctors have stabilized her to the point she can successfully work and maintain a personal life. As for the financial conservatorship, it has been a huge success. Last year alone the conservatorship raked in $14 million and that's only a portion of Britney's financial machine," TMZ continued.
Spears still reportedly has "substantial day-to-day freedom" to make her own decisions under the conservatorship.
The star has also connected more with her two kids she had with ex-husband Kevin Federline — Sean, 9, and Jayden, 8. She has also continued a full-time residency at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas with her "Britney: Piece of Me" show, according to Us Weekly.
Spears and boyfriend Charlie Ebersol ended their eight-month relationship "without drama or hard feelings"
in June, according to People magazine
