Bruce Springsteen treated a New Jersey full of patrons to a two-hour-long surprise performance over the weekend.

The Boss jumped up on the Wonder Bar’s stage around 10:30 p.m. in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and performed 15 songs with the scheduled act, according to CNN. Accompanied by Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers playing backup, Springsteen treated his home crowd to hits such as “Because The Night,” “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” and, of course “The Promised Land,” the Asbury Park Press reported.

Along with surprising the crowd, the 65-year-old musician also surprised Wonder Bar owner Debbie DeLisa.

“It was thrilling,” she said. “It was a magical night.”

Thanks to social media, word of Springsteen’s surprise show spread to the point where Ocean Avenue, the outside street of the bar, got so crowded.

"Even the whole street got completely packed with people," DeLisa said. "It was insane."

Growing up in the nearby town of Freehold, Springsteen first started out decades ago performing in the music halls and dives of Asbury Park, a blue-collar shore town and major center for the state's music scene.

"He's so Asbury Park," DeLisa said. "He's just a regular guy."

Springsteen has been known to perform surprise shows at the nearby Stone Pony throughout his career, but it has been years since his last.

When Springsteen is home in Jersey, "you never know," DeLisa said. "We just cross our fingers and hope."
