A burglar who allegedly hid under a bed at the New Jersey home of an ex-girlfriend for three days back in May has been charged with burglary and theft of electricity for charging his cell phones.

Jason Hubbard was arrested on May 10 at the Spotswood home after the resident heard a noise in a spare bedroom and called police, authorities told reporters on Tuesday, according to NJ.com.

Margaret Adamcewicz told WABC-TV her husband found Hubbard under the bed after hearing a noise. Their 28-year-old son then "corralled" him until police officers arrived to arrest him.

Hubbard was jailed under $50,000 bond at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center, the Spotswood Police Department stated on its Facebook page.

"He was hiding upstairs underneath the bed, in my daughter's bedroom," Adamcewicz said to WABC-TV. "He used to date my daughter five years ago . . . It didn't end well . . . He didn't say why he came back. He just picked our house to hide out in. He didn't have a home to live in."

Investigators told WABC-TV that Hubbard entered a door left open by one resident while they were taking out the garbage. He went to the spare bedroom and hid under the bed while charging his four cell phones with an electric outlet under the bed, authorities told WABC-TV.

"I haven't heard from him in five years," Adamcewicz said to WABC-TV. "I wasn't scared, I was just angry . . . I don't think he was eating. I think he just had water under the bed."

Many on social media had a humorous take on Hubbard's under-the-bed accommodations.
