Former President George H.W. Bush and wife Barbara Bush celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.
The couple met at a dance in 1941 and married on Jan. 6, 1945 in
Rye, New York, The Huffington Post reported.
The couple's six children include former President George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
George and Barbara Bush have been the longest-married presidential couple since 2000, when they surpassed John and Abigail Adams'
54-year record, USA Today reported.
CNN posted a tribute video with clips of quotes from the president and first lady talking about their marriage.
"I wouldn’t alter one thing about my life with George Bush," Barbara Bush said.
"Now that my political days are over, the three most rewarding titles are the three that I have left: a husband, a father, and a granddad," the former president said.
The clip ends with Barbara Bush saying: "I just can’t tell you how much I love him."
Twitter users shared their congratulations.
