Despite suffering low ratings during its sixth season, CBS renewed Simon Baker's "The Mentalist" for 2014-15 while it cancelled a handful of other shows including "Bad Teacher," "Hostages," and Robin Williams' underwhelming series "The Crazy Ones."
CBS announced the extension of "The Mentalist" on Saturday alongside the deaths of "The Crazy Ones," "Intelligence," "Hostages," "Bad Teacher," and
"Friends With Better Lives," according to The Huffington Post. The network also nixed "We Are Men."
"After sitting heavily on the bubble for the first time, in grave danger of cancellation, the veteran drama has gotten a reprieve with an eleventh-hour renewal,"
Deadline.com's Nellie Andreeva wrote of "The Mentalist." "CBS does not specify the size of the order but I hear it is likely for a 13-episode seventh and final season."

"That also would make sense given the enormous (for CBS standards) volume of new dramas that the network is adding with the pickup of six series: 'NCIS: New Orleans,' 'CSI: Cyber,' 'Stalker,' 'Scorpion,' 'Madam Secretary,' and the straight-to-series 'Battle Creek,'" Andreeva wrote.
After the cancellation announcement was made, Williams used several posts on Twitter to thank his co-stars and staff on "The Crazy Ones," including creator David E. Kelley.
