Actress Candace Cameron Bure and news anchor Paula Faris are in talks to become the next co-hosts of "The View," which has been struggling in the ratings and unable to keep its celebrity talking heads around for long.
An official announcement may not come until the end of Season 18 in two weeks,
according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bure, best known for her stint in the television series "Full House," reportedly has twice been offered a seat on the show since
word got out that political consultant Nicolle Wallace would not be returning next season.
The actress, who is expected to add a conservative voice to the talk show, would be expected to help pull "The View" out of a ratings nosedive. The show was down 16 percent in the second quarter as compared to the second quarter of 2014,
noted Variety.
If Bure and Faris, who appears on ABC's "Good Morning America," agree, they would join current moderator Whoopie Goldberg, actress Raven Symone and comedian Michelle Collins.
Wallace, the former communications chief for President George W. Bush, was picked as the conservative voice on the show but she apparently didn't offer enough dissent to please ABC producers.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck offered conservative opinions on "The View" for nearly a decade before leaving for Fox News to become co-host of "Fox & Friends" in 2013,
noted People magazine.
Bure, who has been a guest co-host on "The View," will also be starring in a "Full House" spinoff on Netflix, noted THR.
"I always enjoy co-hosting 'The View' every time that I go there," Bure told
"Entertainment Tonight" earlier this month. "It can be tricky and difficult. I admit even a few of the days that I was on, there were a lot of hurtful comments."
Bure, sister of actor Kirk Cameron, said she even received death threats from some viewers because of her conservative opinions.
"I just wish that we all could be respectful to one another regardless of our opinions, especially if they differ from one another," said Bure. "I just wish people would say, 'Good! You have your opinion and I have mine, but let's still be nice and kind.'"
