Carrie Underwood's face needed up to 50 stitches after a fall at her home in Nov. 10, the country music star revealed to members of her fan club. The only recent picture of the chart-topping performer has her face obscured by a scarf.
Representatives for Underwood originally had said she broke her wrist and suffered cuts and abrasions in the Nov. 10 accident outside of her home two days after she cohosted the 2017 Country Music Association Awards, E! News reported.
Then she only partially explained explained the injuries to fans on social media Nov. 15.
E! News reported on Monday that Underwood confessed to fans that there was more to the accident.
"Most of you know that I tripped and fell and broke my wrist in November," Underwood wrote, per E! News. "I'm still doing regular physical therapy for that, but all is coming along. There is also another part of the story that I haven't been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up. It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”
"In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [my husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in. Now, here we are seven weeks later and, even though I've had the best people helping me, I'm still healing and not quite looking the same," the singer continued.
People magazine reported that the accident prevented Underwood from making an appearance at the Country Rising benefit concert shortly afterwards at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
USA Today reported that Underwood went to Instagram last week to post a picture of herself with her face almost completely covered by a scarf.
