Casey Anthony, the Florida woman who was acquitted of murder charges in the slaying of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, is back in the news.
Anthony has agreed to pay
$25,000 to settle a case surrounding the rights to sell her life story, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting. Anthony had
filed for bankruptcy protection early this year, and in March, a bankruptcy trustee, Stephen L. Meininger, sought permission to sell "the exclusive worldwide rights ... of Anthony's life story," which would have brought in money to pay her debt, according to the Sentinel. Bankruptcy attorneys opposed the motion, and Meininger withdrew the proposal. Both sides agreed that Anthony should pay her creditors $25,000.

The attorneys said allowing the sale of her life story would create a "slippery slope" that would have an effect past this case, the Sentinel reported.
Radaronline.com, meanwhile, reported that Caylee’s grandparents recently sold off a huge assortment of the slain girl’s clothes, toys, and other belongings at a yard sale at their Mount Dora, Fla., home. One woman told the website that she stumbled upon the sale on June 28 and bought several of Caylee’s items before returning the next day for more.
The woman, identified as Christina Werner, said she not only picked up a Winnie-the-Pooh backpack, a Tigger bag and some teddy bears, but she also bought purses that once belonged to Casey Anthony.
Caylee’s murder received international attention and a resulting investigation and trial was followed closely by newspapers, news stations, and websites across the country.
The toddler’s grandmother reported her missing on July 15, 2008, telling authorities she had not seen the child for a month and that her daughter’s car smelled like a dead body had been inside of it. Casey Anthony told detectives various stories about her daughter’s whereabouts, including that Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny more than a month earlier. She was charged with first-degree murder that October.
On December 11, 2008, Caylee’s remains were found inside a trash bag in a wooded area near the family home. Casey Anthony’s attorneys argued that the child had drowned accidentally in the family pool.
She was acquitted of murder in Caylee’s death in July of 2011.
