A woman has been arrested after using her cat as a weapon against her roommate, according to a police report. The incident took place Sunday. Wendi Hird, 56, and a 73-year-old man, whose identity has been withheld, were involved in a heated argument in their Largo, Florida, home when things escalated.
Hird grabbed their cat and threw it at the man, causing "the cat to scratch the victim's face," an arrest affidavit shows. Hird then proceeded to attack the man. He sustained minor injuries to his face, kneecap, and foot. Police arrested Hird and charged her with domestic battery on a person over the age of 65. She is being held in the county jail in lieu of $4,000 bond, The Smoking Gun revealed.
This is not the first time Hird has had a run-in with the law. She has been convicted for several crimes including theft, battery, drunk driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, prostitution, and probation violation, the outlet noted. Hird spent a year behind bars after she escaped from police custody. A year later, in 2005, she was back in prison for nearly five years after she was convicted for battery on a law enforcement officer.
Then, in 2018, she reportedly attacked the same man against who she used her cat as a weapon and was arrested for battery. According to court records, the man and Hird were previously romantic but were now just platonic friends. Prosecutors decided not to pursue the 2018 felony charge against Hird.
