Celine Dion is the latest celebrity to fall victim to an Internet death hoax as rumors swirled on Twitter over the weekend that the Canadian singer had been killed in either a car or plane accident.
The news stemmed from two Facebook Apps that featured false CNN and Fox News stories that reported that Dion had died.
"Hollywood Breaking News – R.I.P Celine Dion At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, Celine Dion died in a plane crash," the CNN version read. "The culprit for the story is Global Associated, aka Mediafetcher. 'Celine Dion presumed dead in private plane crash', Global claims that Celine died today at 'Denver Peak-Regional Airport."

The fake Fox News story had a different death report:
"Investigators have told reporters that Celine Dion lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing her instantly. The vehicle was believed to have been traveling at approximately 95 miles per hour in a 55mph zone at the time of the accident."
The death hoax fooled some people who took to Twitter in disbelief.
Despite the rumors, Dion, 45, is alive and well and scheduled to appear on NBC's "Today" show Monday morning to perform two songs off her new album, "Loved Me Back to Life."
