Charlie Sheen is drawing fire for a Twitter post asking God to take President-elect Donald Trump next in the wake of a 2016 rash of celebrity deaths, the latest including actress Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds.
The post has drawn widespread attention, receiving more than 57,000 likes and sparking outrage among many.
Fisher, 60, died Dec. 27, days after suffering a heart attack during a flight. Reynolds, 84, died the next day after suffering a suspected stroke while planning her daughter's funeral, the Daily Mail reported.
Many other high-profile musicians, actors, authors, and otherwise — David Bowie, Prince, Florence Henderson, Leonard Cohen, John Glenn, Muhammad Ali, Harper Lee, to name a few — died this year, prompting the public to hope for a happier 2017.
Sheen followed up with a tweet defending his initial post.
Twitter users shared mixed reactions.
