Charlize Theron Pinkberry: Actress Leaves $96 Tip for $3.75 Treat

Actress Charlize Theron, who bought frozen yogurt at a Pinkberry store in Los Angeles but didn’t have the cash to pay the bill, made good and better on her promise to return with the money.

The waiting employee, identified only as Keila, was getting a little worried when Theron didn’t come back for more than an hour.

“I’m hoping she might come back,” Keila told TMZ in an exclusive video. “If she doesn’t come back today, I have to (pay the bill).”

But Theron did show up, driven by Sean Penn, and left a $100 bill for her $3.75 tab.

The actress refused to acknowledge the TMZ reporter outside Pinkberry, but Keila was grateful that the actress showed up and saw fit to leave such a big tip.

Theron’s honesty and generosity was applauded online.

UK’s Esquire described Theron as “laser focused and no-nonsense,” just the kind of person you’d want to gamble on paying a yogurt debt.

In an in-depth interview, writer Alex Bilmes tackles the part of her that eschews the narrow focus of the media on what’s important in her life. Namely, Theron’s darker works are often related to the family tragedy in which her mother killed her drunken father.

No person can be defined by one event like that, Theron told Bilmes. “You feel like you’ve been made one-dimensional: You are this dark person who comes from this dark past who is therefore obsessed with playing these dark people — and it couldn’t be further from the truth,” she said.

At least Keila could vouch for the lighter side of this popular actress — she’s a woman of her word.
