Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton delighted the audience at her first visit to the South by Southwest technology conference when she related details about the family's technology prowess, including teaching both her mother and father how to text.

"I definitely taught my parents how to text and how to charge their phones," she told the SXSW crowd of approximately 3,000, CNN reported.  "I'm sure that's not uncommon for many people in this room."

She joked about her father, former President Bill Clinton, not being the world's most proficient texter, bringing the crowd to a laugh when she contrasted this fact with the "Texts from Hillary" meme that took off in 2012.

The 34-year-old Clinton mentioned that her Commodore, her first computer, came from Santa Claus, and that she sent her first email while she was in high-school. It was around that same time that then-President Bill Clinton sent the first presidential email to astronaut John Glenn in space.

Even though he was "ridiculously" proud of himself, she joked that "he's still only sent about two emails." She did give him credit, however, for being "a pretty good Tweeter and a pretty good texter."

In bringing up the technology habits of the former first family to a crowd of technologists in Austin, Clinton sought to remind the tech community that the things they build can often solve problems much faster and much better than policy wielded by an office holder.

"What makes you angry?" she asked the crowd.

"I'd ask myself, 'What do I think is really unjust?' That should be a starting point for how you engage with the world."

For her, the fact that 750,000 children die each year of diarrhea-related dehydration due to lack of clean drinking water makes her very upset.

She said these were the types of problems the people sitting in front of her were well-equipped to solve, and invited them to follow their passions.
