The long-running rumor of Grammy-winning hip hop duo OutKast reuniting has finally come true; the two will headline the 2014 Coachella festival in California in April.

The group, which features Andre3000 (Andre Benjamin) and Big Boi (Antwon Patton), had not made an album since 2006's "Idlewild."

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival announced the festival's lineup on Twitter Wednesday.

The festival will take place April 11-13 and 18-20 in Indio, Calif. OutKast will be joined by Arcade Fire, Muse, The Replacements, Queens of the Stone Age, Skrillex, Broken Bells, Haim, Beck, Calvin Harris and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Benjamin appeared in "Four Brothers" opposite Mark Wahlberg in 2005 and had a small part in the TV series "The Shield." He also played Jimi Hendrix in the movie "All is by My Side" last year.

While Benjamin and Patton have not made new music since 2006, Steven Hyden of Grantland.com questions whether "reunion" is an appropriate word for OutKast's return to the stage.

"For seven years, it has been one of the few groups to avoid hiatus/breakup language," Hayden wrote. "Is it really a 'reunion' if you haven't officially broken up or spent time on the hiatus tip? 'Reunion' language instantly reframes anything OutKast subsequently does — cynics will call the group’s future shows a 'nostalgia cash-in' even though OutKast has only been absent since the mid-'00s. Is it possible that careers now are just an endless cycle of ambiguous dissolutions and triumphant returns?"

Todd Martens, of the Los Angeles Times, said it's a sign OutKast is coming back.

"Coachella has a reputation for presenting a heavily curated lineup that connects the dots among hitmakers, underground artists and those on the comeback trail, all within a desert setting that’s increasingly becoming more resort-like, with upscale options to match," Martens wrote.

"In 2012 the festival responded to years of sellout attendance by doubling capacity (and) showcasing the same musical lineup on back-to-back weekends," Martens added.
