Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has completed his pledge to donate $1 million to help oppressed communities by recruiting celebrity friends to match his last $100,000 in donations to 10 different charities at $10,000 each.

Kaepernick called the campaign #10for10, and some of those who matched his donations included Stephen Curry, Snoop Dogg, and Serena Williams.

Recording artist Usher matched the final donation in the campaign to H.O.M.E. (Helping Oppressed Mothers Endure) of Lithonia, Georgia.

“This was an opportunity to do something major, and you did it,” Usher said on a video posted to Kaepernick’s Twitter page. “You have raised $1 million. I’m happy to be part of the completion of that $1 million. ... As a result of us helping each other, we all become stronger.”

In the tweet and video, Kaepernick also thanked everyone who matched donations.

Above and beyond the million dollar pledge, Kaepernick has said he will donate all profits from his 2016 jersey sales to charities.

The million dollar pledge was announced by Kaepernick in September 2016 as the NFL player drew intense media scrutiny for refusing to stand for the national anthem before football games he played in to protest oppression of people of color.

Kaepernick became a free agent in spring 2017 and has not played football in the NFL since then.

Through his pledge, Kaepernick donated to 41 different charities and was named GQ’s Citizen of the Year and Sports Illustrated’s Muhammad Ali Legacy Award winner for 2017.

Kaepernick’s supporters gave him kudos for reaching his goal and putting his money where the seat of his pants is.
