Conan O'Brien is determined to end his late-night show with a bang.
"Conan" will come to a close on June 24 after an 11-year run. Tuesday's episode was one for the books when he and actor Seth Rogen shared a joint as the cameras were rolling.
O'Brien instigated Rogen when he admitted he was going to have a lot of free time on his hands after leaving the show.
"We’re going to start something else up, but I’m going to have some downtime, and honestly — I’m not even kidding — I don’t really know what to do with downtime," he said.
Rogen's advice was simple. That O' Brien tries "smoking a lot of weed for a long time."
In response, the host said that, although he had no judgement towards pot, he had only smoked it a few times and when he did "nothing really happened."
O 'Brien then asked Rogen what he should smoke. The actor pulled out a joint.
"I swear to God, this is how lame I am," O’Brien said. "For a second I thought, ‘He brought a birthday candle?’"
Conan took a hit of the joint before passing it back to Rogen and co-host Andy Richter.
"This is the kind of thing you do when you know it’s over for you," O’Brien joked.
Rogen, on his part, was ecstatic.
"I’m so happy with what just happened," he said. "I wasn’t expecting any of this."
Viewers will tune in to "Conan" for the last time on Thursday, but this is not goodbye forever.
O'Brien's travel specials, "Conan Without Borders," will continue to be produced and the comedian will also be joining a new variety series on HBO Max.
"In 1993, Johnny Carson gave me the best advice of my career: 'As soon as possible, get to a streaming platform,'" O'Brien said when news of the new series first emerged. "I'm thrilled that I get to continue doing whatever the hell it is I do on HBO Max, and I look forward to a free subscription."
Brett Weitz, General Manager for TNT, TBS and truTV, applauded O 'Brien for what he has achieved through his late-night show and said he looked forward to having "Conan Without Borders" on air.
"We celebrate his success and are glad to see it grow across our WarnerMedia family," he said.
