Ziva David lives and that means Cote de Pablo, a favorite on CBS's popular "NCIS" who was begged by fans to stay as she made her exit from the show last fall, could be returning to play her again, according to a TV Guide tease in a series preview.
Creator Gary Glasberg talked about how the 12th season will focus on the cast reconnecting after all the upheaval of Season 11, and Michael Weatherly discussed his character Tony Dinozzo finding a new love interest, but neither would close the door on de Pablo returning,

DePablo got an emotional send off, but her Ziva David character was sent away very much alive, Glasberg pointed out to TV Guide.
"We didn't kill her," said Glasberg. "So, Ziva's still out there and she's still alive. ... We'll just have to see what happens."
Weatherly said Dinozzo has been in a "wounded bird [phase]," since Ziva's departure from the show and there is an anticipated romance brewing between him a new character, Leia Pendergast, played by Stephanie Jacobsen, a former U.S. marshal turned FBI honcho.
"It's really exciting," Weatherly told TV Guide. "I don't think I've been this excited since maybe Season 3. ... I think Season 12 is going to be a revelatory year. He's probably going to have more fun than he's ever had."
TV Guide wrote, though, that Weatherly is still excited about the thought of a possible de Pablo return.
"I am sure they will see each other again, and I'm deeply fascinated by what kind of fireworks would result," he told TV Guide. "I absolutely know that it would not be without some explosive quality."
The biggest hope for de Pablo's return was the fact that she signed on in July to do the 2015 miniseries "The Dovekeepers" for executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, keeping her under the CBS umbrella,
according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The miniseries is the first project under CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Studios' new limited series and event programming division led by Stacy Mandelberg, noted the Reporter.
Not only is "NCIS" the reigning drama king in the United States, but in June it received the International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the 54th Monte-Carlo Television Festival, for delivering the highest ratings worldwide in 2013 across five continents in three categories: drama TV Series, comedy TV Series and telenovelas/soap operas,
according to Variety.
