Actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd took a break Friday from filming the upcoming James Brown biopic "Get On Up" to be sworn in as a reserve unit officer in a Mississippi sheriff's office.
Aykroyd can now add member of the Hinds County Sheriff's Office to his résumé.
"It's an honor to join these ranks today. I understand the challenges that law enforcement face in today's world,"
the 61–year-old told The Clarion-Ledger after the swearing-in ceremony. "I am able to go all over the world now and talk up this county, talk up this state and talk up the people of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. It's a great honor, and I hope I can uphold my duties professionally and with integrity and honesty."

The "Ghostbusters" star, who studied criminal justice in college, reportedly has previous police experience — he served on two Louisiana law enforcement agencies for nearly 16 years.
"He’s very qualified. He can hit the ground running," Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis told The Clarion-Ledger last week. "He kind of puts Hinds County on the map."
Aykroyd submitted a letter of request to join Lewis' office last year and now holds an official badge and uniform, though the actor couldn’t stop talking about his new boss' style.
"I don’t think there’s a better dressed sheriff in the United States. This man is sure styling, and he backs it up with intelligence, integrity, and real care for his personnel," Aykroyd told the audience at Friday's ceremony.
