Daniel Craig may not reprise his role as James Bond for upcoming movies, and many are betting on Tom Hiddleston to replace him.
Widespread media reports said Craig turned down a $100 million deal to appear in two more Bond films. But
BBC News reported that "authoritative Bond sources" say Craig hasn't made a decision and isn't likely to for a while.
Last year's "Spectre" is the latest of four Bond films featuring Craig.
Speculation about Craig's departure from the franchise was rekindled after
The Daily Mail quoted an unnamed "LA film source" that said, "Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre. They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted."
Claims that Hiddleston had reportedly been spotted with Bond director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli last week sparked a flurry of bets on the star of "The Night Manager,"
The Guardian reported. Bookmaker Carol suspended betting after Hiddleston's odds were slashed to 1 to 2.
“There’s no smoke without fire, and following the big gamble on Tom Hiddleston in the last 24 hours, we’ve had no choice but to pull the plug on the market,” Coral spokesperson Nicola McGeady told The Guardian. “Earlier in the year there was a gamble on Idris Elba and Damian Lewis, but nothing has come close to the recent gamble on Hiddleston.”
Others considered to be in the running for the part include Clive Owen, John Boyega, and Aidan Turner,
according to The Telegraph.
Twitter users gave mixed reviews to the rumors.
