“Deadliest Catch,” one of Discovery Channel’s most popular shows, will return for its 10th season on April 22, an event eagerly anticipated by fans.
The Emmy Award-winning series will launch the season with a look at how the “young guns” will start creating their legacies on the sea,
the show announced in a news release.

“The late Capt. Phil Harris brought notoriety and respect to the industry and to the fishermen who risk their lives in one of the most dangerous jobs around,” the release said. “This season proves to be a momentous one for Phil's son, Josh Harris, who is back as captain and owner of his father's boat the Cornelia Marie. But will he be able to continue his dad's legacy and create one of his own?”
Also embarking on Sig Hansen’s boat is his daughter Mandy, 18, who will be trying to prove herself in a male-dominated profession.
Politics enters the fishing world right at the season’s beginning, the release said, when the captains are grounded by a Washington, D.C., government shutdown. The shortened fishing season will ramp up the competition.
Discovery tantalized its loyal fans with tidbits of what they’ll see this season — everything from a boat “up in flames” to record-breaking profits. “When the smoke clears, one captain finds himself in rehab and another wakes up in a hospital,” the release said.
Fans are ready and went online to say so.
For fans wanting to re-immerse themselves in the show, Discovery will air a special recap episode on April 15.
