Debra Messing reunited with her "Will & Grace" costar Eric McCormack Monday night to honor their former TV boss, and the one-time on-screen best friends looked as chummy as ever.
Messing, 45, and McCormack, 50, starred on the NBC sitcom together for eight seasons, until the show was canceled in 2006. Often hailed as the most successful TV series featuring gay principal characters, "Will & Grace" chronicled the lives of two best friends searching for love in New York City — gay lawyer Will Truman (McCormack) and interior decorator Grace Adler (Messing).

The pair cozied up on the red carpet Monday at the Television Academy's "An Evening Honoring James Burrows." Burrows directed the iconic television series that skyrocketed Messing and McCormack to fame.
After the sitcom was canceled, Messing starred in a handful of films and later appeared on "The Starter Wife" and "Smash." McCormack also continued his film career and scored many appearances on various shows like "Law & Order: SVU" and "Monk," and two regular roles on the Canadian show "Pound Puppies" and TNT's "Perception."
Rumors have also been swirling for months about a possible "Will & Grace" movie spin-off.
"Never say never; that's what I've learned," Messing told the Huffington Post earlier this year of a possible film version of the show.
Messing also had some ideas about where the characters might be today.
"I would hope that all the characters had found some love at some point, but you know, it’s a comedy," she said, "so happiness does not equal laughter most of the time on TV."
