Former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter got the lifetime achievement Legends Award at Nickelodeon's "Kids' Choice Awards" on Thursday, whereupon he was slimed with golden goo.

The high honor was captured by many watching at home, and soon shared widely on social media.

As Yahoo News reported, Nickelodeon has long been famous for sliming people on a variety of its shows, perhaps most prominently on the gameshow "Figure It Out."

The slime is almost always bright green, however it appears they thought gold was a more regal and fitting color for Jeter, a five-time World Series champion.

"To all the kids out there: dream big, set your goals high, work extremely hard at it, and surround yourself with positive people," he said from the stage, shortly before being slimed. "Most importantly, be a good person. If you do that, everything else will work out."

He then thanked his parents and all the kids who voted for him.

The awards event was hosted by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Olympian Lindsey Vonn, musician Mo'Ne Davis, and many other celebrities relevant to kids were also in attendance for the awards ceremony.
