Donald Trump, true to his past tendency to mouth off on sensitive issues, expressed satisfaction that the Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant will continue to feature women in bikinis, unlike this year’s Miss World pageant.
Miss World will be held in Indonesia this year, and that country’s Muslim leaders
petitioned the pageant to ask that women wear a sarong because bikinis are offensive to them. Miss World agreed, and a special sarong is being created for the event.

When Trump heard the news, he told the hosts of Fox and Friends Monday, “
Well, I own Miss Universe so I’m actually very happy about it because if (Miss World doesn’t) have bikinis their ratings are gonna go right down the tubes.”
Trump said he would never hold a beauty pageant in a country that objected to bikinis.
Not known for holding his tongue, Trump has come under fire for racist and sexist comments in the past. Twitter lit up as Trump’s defense of bikinis in pageants made the rounds.
Others thought Trump should just “shut up,” and another woman commented, “There’s so much wrong with him I don’t know where to start! #Sexist#Racist.”
Brian Kilmeade, of Fox and Friends, came under fire in news comments, too, when he said, “What about the ‘Best Burqa’ as a compromise?” On Gawker.com, a commenter wrote, “
Always a pleasure to see Brian Kilmeade’s colleagues pause to give him the special ‘that-was-stupid-even-for-us’ side-eye.”
