Whether it was by accident or intentional, Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, channeled Batman supervillain Bane during his inauguration speech Friday.

Just before pledging, “Yes, we will make America great again,” Trump closely repeated a line from “The Dark Knight Rises,” the finale of the Dark Knight trilogy.

"Today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people," Trump said in his speech.

In the film, after freeing prisoners in Gotham City, Bane announces, "We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people."

The similar quotes didn’t escape the notice of some people who jumped at the chance to make comparisons on Twitter.
