Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un impersonators caused a stir at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics when they decided to crash the party in Pyeongchang on Friday, Business Insider noted.
It was unclear what the two were doing at the event but they were rather convincing in their roles, with the fake Trump donning a suit and red "USA" hat and the fake Kim sporting glasses and a haircut that mimicked the North Korean dictator, Sports Illustrated said.
The Trump and Kim lookalikes reportedly received a warm welcome from passersby outside the stadium before the opening ceremony kicked off, The Mirror said.
Once events got underway, the two impersonators casually strolled into the media seating section of the arena then turned to salute the crowd, The L.A. Times reported.
Security officials were quick to nab the duo and escort them out but not before they were mobbed by spectators wanting to snap selfies with the impersonators.
Kim's lookalike, who has been identified by the AFP as an Australian based in Hong Kong named Howard, said when they arrived at the station they were "treated like rock stars."
"Some people were fooled but most people can see the lighter side," he added.
Trump's impersonator, Dennis Alan, noted that their stint was a "peace envoy."
"We're going to promote peace and show people this is what peace can look like," Howard said, according to AFP.
