Drew Carey and Craig Ferguson will be pranking their viewers this April Fools' Day by swapping shows on April 1, with Carey hosting CBS' "The Late Late Show" and Ferguson hosting "The Price Is Right."

The switcheroo was announced Monday night by the two funnymen on Ferguson's late-night talk show.

"Hey, Craig Ferguson and I for April Fools' are switching jobs. He's going to host 'The Price is Right' and I'm going to host 'The Late Late Show,'" Carey told the audience, which welcomed the announcement with applause.

"Now this is for April Fools'," Ferguson added as he leaned into the camera and whispered to the viewers at home, "so don't tell anyone."

"And don't get comfortable with him being on 'Price is Right' or me being here, it's just for the one day," Carey continued after the applause subsided, telling Ferguson, "I'm not trying to take your job."

A blank-faced Ferguson, who appeared to have been hoping for a more prolonged swap, responded, "You can have it," referring to his show.

Ferguson will be only the fifth person to host "The Price Is Right," which first aired in 1956, joining the ranks of former hosts Tom Kennedy, Dennis James, and the most well-known host Bob Barker, who hosted from 1972 through 2007 until his retirement.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ferguson will be joined on the daily game show by several of his late-night sidekicks, including the animatronic human skeleton Geoff Peterson and his pantomime horse named Secretariat.

For his one-night hosting gig, Carey will be interviewing actor-comedian Carl Reiner, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Connie Schultz, and rocker Joan Jett, TheWrap.com reported.

The two comedians have apparently been close for years, with Carey and Ferguson having starred alongside each other in the 1990s sitcom "The Drew Carey Show."
