Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's 26-year-old brother, was killed Friday following a night of high-speed police car chases and shooting, and they have
been in pursuit of Dzhokhar as "suspect #2" ever since.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had an account on the Russian version of Facebook, Vkontakte, with an alternate spelling of his name, "Djohar Tsarnaev." Tsarnaev's black and white profile photo depicted him looking stoically at the camera. The site listed the school he attended in Boston, Cambridge Ringe & Latin School, and the school he attended in Russia 1999 to 2001. He identified his world view "Islam" and his personal priorities as "career and money."
The page showed Tsarnaev logged into the account on Thursday. In just 24 hours, hundreds had commented on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's account, both American and Russian, many of them cursing at each other and criticizing Tsarnaev.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev posted links to videos of fighters in the Syrian civil war and to Islamic Web pages with the commentary "Salamworld, my religion is Islam" and "There is no God by Allah, let that ring out in our hearts." He also had links to pages calling for independence for Chechnya, a region of Russia that lost its bid for independence after two wars in the 1990s.
Tsarnaev's yearbook photo depicts a young man in a collard shirt and black jacket with the kind of unaffected half-smile any teenager might emote.
Tsarnaev reportedly came with his brother from the Russian region near Chechnya, which has been plagued by Islamic insurgency, according to the USA Today.
NBC reported Tsarnaev "entered the United States with family in 2002 or 2003, and that Tamerlan Tsarnaev became a legal permanent resident in 2007." Tsarnaev has a Massachusetts driver's license.
Tsarnaev's father reportedly called him an "angel."
"Dzhokhar is a second-year medical student in the U.S. He is such an intelligent boy. We expected him to come on holidays here," the father told The Associated Press.
