Members of Eagles of Death Metal, the California rock band that was on stage Friday when terrorists attacked the sold-out Paris nightclub Le Bataclan, escaped unharmed, but merchandising manager Nick Alexander died in the melee.
Alexander, 36, who worked the band's merchandise table during its European tour, was one of nearly 130 people killed in six coordinated attacks at several venues throughout the city
, Rolling Stone reported.
"It is with huge sorrow that we can confirm that our beloved Nick lost his life at the Bataclan last night," Alexander's family said in a statement, according to Rolling Stone. "Nick was not just our brother, son, and uncle; he was everyone's best friend — generous, funny, and fiercely loyal.
"Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world. Thank you for your thoughts and respect for our family at this difficult time. Peace and light," the statement continued.
The band and crew managed to survive the attack,
family members of Eagles of Death Metal told NBC News.
"I'm grateful and heartbroken at the same time," Emily Hall Dorio, wife of the band's drummer Julian Dorio, told NBC News. "I'm glad he's alive."
She said that all the musicians managed to get out of the venue and escape to a nearby a police station.
The band has decided to cancel the rest of its European tour and return to the United States. The Eagles of Death Metal tour was supposed to head to Portugal where it would have
concluded on Dec. 10, Agence France-Presse reported.
The band was slated to play Saturday in Tourcoing, France, and then in Brussels, stated the news agency.
"We are just holding our breath and saying prayers for everyone," Emily Dorio reportedly told
The Washington Post, according to an update on the band's Facebook page. "[Julian] called to say that he loved me and he was safe. Everyone on stage was able to get off."
France remained in a state of emergency Monday as French authorities conducted 150
anti-terror raids across the country, according to CNN. The network also said that an international manhunt is on for Belgian-born French national Salah Abdeslam in connection with the attacks.
The French Air Force Monday ran bombing missions over Islamic State targets in Raqqa, Syria, targeting a command center, recruitment center, ammunition storage base and a training camp, noted CNN.
