Elizabeth Warren announced her support of Scott Brown for VA secretary after his name was floated as President-elect Donald Trump’s possible pick to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Warren, who’s Brown’s former rival, said Thursday in an interview on Boston Public Radio station WGBH that she would endorse Brown if Trump picked him to lead the VA, Politico noted.
“If Scott Brown is the nominee for Veterans Affairs, I have no doubt that he would put his heart and soul into trying to help veterans,” Warren said in her interview, according to The Boston Globe. “And I would put my heart and soul into trying to help him do that. You bet I’d support him for that.”
Warren’s remarks come four years after she unseated Brown from the Senate in a “nasty” campaign in 2012, Politico noted.
Last week, Brown confirmed that Trump was considering him to lead Veterans Affairs, and after meeting with the president-elect, Brown told reporters that serving veterans and dealing with veterans’ issues is a “passion” of his, Politico noted.
“We obviously spoke about my passion and his passion, which is veterans and veteran issues,” Brown said after meeting with Trump in November, according to The Huffington Post. “And obviously I think the toughest job in the Cabinet is leading the VA, because while it has so many great angels working there, it has great problems as well.”
Mitt Romney is another politician believed to be one of the four finalists that Trump is looking to bring in as secretary of state, according to Politico.
Warren shared words of support for the former Massachusetts politician.
“I’d like to hear more, but I think Mitt Romney is a smart man, and I think he’s got a pretty level-headed view of the world,” Warren said.
