Ellen DeGeneres' former bodyguard has backed allegations that the talk show host is anything but pleasant. In fact, she is "cold" and “demeaning,” to other people Tom Majercak told Fox News in a report published on Friday, 1 May.
The former security official had been assigned to protect DeGeneres during the 2014 Oscars and during his 10 years working with Security Imagery Specialists, she was the only person who didn't even bother to greet him, he said.
Majercak's duty was to look after DeGeneres, her mother, and her partner, Portia De Rossi, but things were not uncomfortable for him that night.
"I'm holding their hands and walking them through individuals and large groups of people. Ellen is the one person that I've been assigned to -- and I've been assigned to quite a few celebrities -- that has never taken the time to say hi to me," he said.
De Rossi was friendly enough but Majercak claimed things went bad when he was introduced to DeGeneres, who gave him "a side glance out of her eye." She did not greet him or thank him for his protection, he added.
"It was very cold and it was very sly and it was actually kind of demeaning in the way that she treats people other than those who are in her circle."
Majercak decided to break his silence amid reports that DeGeneres is not the kind person she appears to be on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
She received widespread backlash last month after comparing her self-isolation in her mansion to jail. She was further criticized after reports emerged that she hired a non-union company to help produce her show from home, leaving her regular unionized employees in the dark. Her higher-ups also allegedly failed to communicate with employees about their pay and job security.
Then a beauty influencer came forth with accusations that DeGeneres was "cold" to her during an appearance on her show. Majercak said he could not keep quiet any longer.
"It's bugged me for years," he shared. "I see this person come across as being very enlightened and positive and awesome and everybody loves her and is in awe and that's really not the case when you meet her in person."
Majercak further stated that people fell in love with the DeGeneres they have come to know on TV but it is a "false facade and bravado."
"You start hearing these stories and I was like, 'Man, there's got to be more to this.' She's not the person she portrays to be that she's playing off of society. That's my opinion," he said. "I can absolutely see through interacting with her first-hand that she doesn't care about anybody else as long as she's getting what she wants," Majercak continued. "People are starting to see her true self and that really lends to the support of what my initial thoughts of her have been over the last six years."
