Emilio Estevez channeled his "Mighty Ducks" character on Twitter to cheer on the Anaheim Ducks as they took on the Chicago Blackhawks this week.
Estevez hasn’t played fictional coach Gordon Bombay since the 1990s, however the 53-year-old actor reprised his role on Twitter Monday to root for the Ducks in
Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, The Washington Post reported.
He live-tweeted the game, documenting scores, and taunting Blackhawks fans.
As the Ducks constructed a 3-0 lead over the Blackhawks during the first period, Estevez’s tweets grew even more passionate.
Later on, Brent Seabrooks and Teuvo Teravainen of the Blackhawks would cut the Ducks' lead down to one goal in the second period, until Patrick Marron added another security goal.
The Ducks' winning goal was scored just 45 seconds after the beginning of overtime, giving Anaheim a 3-2 series advantage as they go into Wednesday's Game 6, something Estevez took great pride in rubbing in Chicago's face.
The Anaheim Ducks NHL franchise was founded by the Walt Disney Company in 1993 after Estevez’s film “Mighty Ducks” earned $51 million at the box office, The Post noted.
Once the game was over, many fans of both teams took to Twitter to voice their opinions on Estevez’s running commentary.
