Police believe that the creepy children's book that "X-Men" star Famke Janssen claimed was placed by her bed by burglars last month actually belonged to the actress the whole time.

Janssen, 48, filed a police report in August claiming that someone had broken into her New York City apartment and put a book called "The Lonely Doll" on a shelf next to her bed. The actress didn’t notice anything missing, and there was no sign of forced entry or any suspicious activity on surveillance footage.

The book, which was published in 1957, tells the story of a lonely doll named Edith who meets two bear friends who promise to never, ever leave her.

In 2005, Janssen filed a police report accusing a fan of aggravated harassment after he reportedly wouldn’t stop sending her letters and photos. Officials initially thought the two incidents might be related, or that "The Lonely Doll" could have been put inside Janssen's apartment as a threat from a stalker.

But now, police are saying they think the book belongs to Janssen. Detectives reportedly found a few pieces of paper in between some of the pages — errand and to-do lists — and at least one has Janssen's name on it, the New York Post reported.

"Janssen is not expected to be charged with filing a false report because she honestly believes that someone broke into her apartment and planted the book," a source told the Post.
