A fistfight at a White House Correspondents Dinner after-party early Sunday pitted Fox News' Jesse Waters against the Huffington Post's Ryan Grim at, ironically, the U.S. Institute for Peace in Washington, D.C., reported the
Washington Post.
The party was hosted by MSNBC and the fight was sparked when Grim used his cellphone camera to record Watters at the event, said the Post, noting it was a turnabout play for Watters, known for his "ambush" interviews for the Fox News' "O'Reilly Factor."
Watters grabbed the cellphone away from Grim and when he tried to get it back, a fight ensued and the two "flailed around a bit, upending a table and bumping into several people."
"Punches were definitely thrown," one witness told the Post.
Washington Post political reporter Dave Weigel posted a photo of the fight to Twitter.
"Ambush guy can't take getting ambushed," Washington bureau chief Grim, told the Post. "Maybe he should think about his life choices."
A Fox News representative told the website
Mediaite that Watters will address the fight during "The O'Reilly Factor" on Monday night.
Jim Hoft, of
The Gateway Pundit, said it was Watters who got the better of Grim.
"Huffington Post goon Ryan Grim harassed Fox News host Jesse Watters at a White House Correspondent's Dinner after party last night," Hoft said. "He won't do it again. Jesse pounded him."
The incident apparently stems from a 2009 encounter involving Watters on-camera "confrontation" with writer Amanda Terkel, who now works with Grim at the Huffington Post, according to the Washington Post. Terkel complained at the time that Watters harassed her, said the newspaper.
