A fox frozen in ice was found by a hunter and put on display in front of his family’s hotel in Germany.
Franz Stehle found the frozen fox in the Danube River on Jan. 2. He thinks the fox fell through the ice and then drowned, the BBC reported. He said he’s seen deer and a wild boar frozen in ice before finding the fox.
Stehle's displayed fox is meant to serve as a warning about the dangers of icy rivers for hunters, fishermen, and ice skaters during an unusually cold snap in western Europe, the BBC reported.
Until the ice melts, the fox can be viewed at Fridingen in Baden-Wurttemberg, in the southwestern part of Germany.
Icy precipitation in western Europe has caused power outages in some locations and rail services also have been disrupted. Scattered accidents killed three drivers in Southern Germany and a woman died in France when a tree fell on her, the BBC reported.
Eastern Europe also is experiencing colder temperatures due to Siberian air moving into the region. It only gets this cold in those regions about every 35 years, according to the BBC.
