Frank Sinatra's widow has spoken out against Mia Farrow's recent admission that her son Ronan could have "possibly" been fathered by the legendary singer, calling the rumor a "bunch of junk."

The speculation started brewing this week when Mia Farrow talked about the possibility in a Vanity Fair interview.

"I asked her point blank, and I said, 'Is Ronan Frank Sinatra's son?' and she said, 'Possibly,'" Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth told "Today's" Matt Lauer about her interview with Farrow. "No DNA tests have been done. But they never really broke up. Obviously they got divorced. She was only 21 when she married him, he was 50, she lost her virginity to him.... she said he was the love of her life."

Farrow and Sinatra were married briefly for a few years before breaking up in 1968. The "Rosemary's Baby" star went on to marry German-Austrian pianist Andre Previn. They adopted three children and had three biologically before splitting up in 1979.

She then started a long-term relationship with director Woody Allen. The couple adopted two more children, gave birth to son Ronan in 1987, and then famously split in 1992 after the actress learned that Allen was having an affair with her adopted daughter, 22-year-old Soon-Yi Previn. In the custody battle that followed, Farrow accused Allen of molesting Ronan's sister Dylan, but no charges were ever filed.

The rumors that Sinatra may be Ronan Farrow's biological father were shot down by Barbara Sinatra, who was married to the singer from 1976 until the time of his death in 1998.

"I can't hardly believe that," Sinatra told The Desert Sun Wednesday. "It's just a bunch of junk. There's always junk written — lies that aren't true."

Allen, too, has reportedly brushed off the idea.

"The article is so fictitious and extravagantly absurd that he is not going to comment," a rep for Allen told The Associated Press.

Now 25, Ronan Farrow is a Bard College and Yale Law School graduate and a Rhodes Scholar who is reportedly in talks to host his own MSNBC show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He joked about the possibility of being Sinatra's son Wednesday on Twitter.
