A protestor left little doubt about his opinion of the French government Thursday after he pulled a truck in front of the country’s parliament building, The Bourbon Palace, and dumped tons of manure on the ground.

Should anyone be unsure of his opinion, the protester had written on the side of his truck: “Out with Hollande and the entire political class. Long live the Sixth Republic.”

RFI reported that the man was stopped before he was able to dump the entire load, but several tons still offered a smelly opinion on President Francois Hollande.

RFI quoted a Reuters report that said the man was a horse breeder who was protesting an increase from 7 to 20 percent in Value-Added Taxes that affect horse-riding clubs.

The man, who was not identified in news articles, was arrested by police and supposedly had taken the same action twice before, RFI said.

Hollande, who was already struggling with popularity over various issues, has seen public opinion of him tank since reports surfaced alleging that he’s having an affair with actress Julie Gayet.

Gayet announced that she is suing Closer magazine over the article and photos. Hollande’s long-term girlfriend, Valerie Trierweiler, was hospitalized after the reports came out.

The Huffington Post said Hollande’s approval rating in a survey last month was just 22 percent, up 2 percent from November when he hit “a record low.”

The news of the foul-smelling political statement appealed to the Internet’s dark humor as the story sped along social media, where it earned the name “pungent protest.”
