"Friendly" the clown, also known to Minnesota residents as "Bob the Balloon Twister," has been charged with the rape of a mentally impaired woman.
According to the Star Tribune, the man, Robert J. Jensen, of Princeton, was jailed on May 8 and will appear in court next week on three counts of third-degree criminal sexual assault and three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jensen's accuser is an unnamed 20-year-old woman who had moved in with him and his wife in December. The criminal complaint said that the woman suffered from a traumatic brain injury, a "vulnerable adult with mental health difficulties."
On Feb. 1, the woman visited a Princeton hospital for a sexual assault examination after having previously spoken with a case worker from the county Community and Veterans Services agency about the alleged assaults.
During the sexual assault exam, the woman told a nurse that Jensen had come into her room naked three days prior, and awoken her by fondling around 5 a.m. He returned around 9 a.m. and raped her, she claims.
She said that Jensen said "he was praying for a little girl like her to come around and mess around," during the assault. She also said he was usually "nice to her and gives her rides to her community service job and medical appointments."
A DNA test confirmed that the semen left on the woman was Jensen's.
The woman said she told Jensen's wife, Peggy Ann Jensen, about the assaults prior to going to the authorities. Peggy Ann confronted her husband, but he denied the claims.
Between the time of the alleged assault and his arrest, a website listing Jensen's clown services suggested he was busy entertaining children at an April birthday party.
