Michael, who was a passenger in the Range Rover, sustained only minor injuries, a spokesperson said.

"George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening, no third party was involved. He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine," the singer's agent, Connie Filippello, said.

The one-vehicle accident occurred at 5:50 p.m. local time on the northbound on the roadway, near the junction of M1 and M25 motorway (a huge freeway), according to The Guardian.

It is unclear what caused the crash, and the driver has not been identified.

Ambulance crews confirmed that another man in the vehicle, who was not the driver, had to be airlifted from the scene. Hertfordshire police said the man in his 40s suffered a non-threatening head injury and was transported to a hospital in London. His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Hertfordshire police said they are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.

"The exact circumstances of what happened are unclear at this time and until further investigations have been carried out it would be inappropriate for us to comment further," officials said in a statement.

Northbound, the motorway was closed for an hour, and the southbound side was closed for 30 minutes.

ALERT: Government ‘Blunder’ Spawns Massive Profit Opportunity

In 2010, the 49-year-old former Wham! star was arrested and sentenced to two months in prison after driving his Range Rover through the front window of a store in Hampstead, England, in the middle of the night. Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, had been under the influence of cannabis at the time.

Last year, Michael revealed he had almost died suffering from a severe case of pneumonia. After intense treatments in Vienna in 2011, he was forced to relearn how to walk again.
