George Zimmerman was punched in the face at a Florida restaurant after talking to some people about the Trayvon Martin case, according to a police report.

Zimmerman, acquitted of second-degree murder charges in the teen's 2012 shooting death, told dispatchers a man hit him after learning who he was last Sunday, reported WFTV.

"He recognized me," Zimmerman told the dispatcher about the unidentified suspect at Gators Riverside Grill in Sanford. "He told me he was going to kill me he told me he'd (expletive) shoot me and he punched me in the face."

Zimmerman said he was explaining to people at one table that he shot Martin in self-defense when the man walked up to the table and accused him of bragging about the shooting,

Witnesses said Zimmerman complimented someone at a table about a tattoo and he volunteered information about himself and the shooting, said the television station.

"I love your tattoos. My name is George Zimmerman, you know, that guy who killed Trayvon Martin?" one witness quoted Zimmerman to police, saying that Zimmerman even pulled out his identification card to prove his identity, noted WFTV.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Zimmerman told police he tried to defuse the situation by walking back to his table where he was eating with friends, but the suspect came over to his table.

"Didn't I tell you to get the (expletive) out of here..." the suspect reportedly told Zimmerman before punching him in the face, breaking his glasses and prompting restaurant staff to break up the scuffle, according to a police report.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office told the Sentinel it was still trying to positively identify the suspect, who could face charges.
