Gia Soriano, one of four injured in Friday's school shooting in Marysville, Washington, died as a result of her head wound Sunday evening at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. She was 14.
"We are devastated by this senseless tragedy," her family said in a statement shortly after her death.
"Gia is our beautiful daughter and words cannot express how much we will miss her. We’ve made the decision to donate Gia’s organs so that others may benefit. Our daughter was loving, kind, and this gift honors her life."
According to NBC News, Soriano was the third to die in the attack by freshman Jaylen Fryberg, 15, who opened fire in the cafeteria, killing Zoe Galasso, 14, and himself.
Three other students remain hospitalized. Two are in critical condition and one was upgraded Monday to satisfactory condition.
Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, remains in critical condition in intensive care at Providence Regional.
Andrew Fryberg, 15, remains in critical condition in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center.
Nate Hatch, 14, suffered a gunshot wound to his jaw.
NBC affiliate KING reported that he's awake and breathing on his own in intensive care.
Fryberg was a prominent member of the Tulalip Indian tribe.
"It pulls at our heart strings," said Tulalip member Eleanor Nielson. "He was a young up-and-coming leader."
"A lot of folks were considering him that he would move up the culture ranks and become a leader," said state Sen. John McCoy, another member of the tribe. "He had that kind of charisma and raw talent."
