GoDaddy has told The Daily Stormer to migrate to another provider after the controversial neo-Nazi website violated the web host’s terms and conditions.
The announcement comes amid increasing pressure for The Daily Storm to be banned.
On Monday GoDaddy was alerted to a post appearing on the website in which Heather Heyer, a woman killed during protests in Charlottesville, was referred to as "fat," "childless" and a "burden on society."
Responding on social media, GoDaddy tweeted "We informed The Daily Stormer that they have 24 hours to move the domain to another provider, as they have violated our terms of service."
Heyer was killed while she, along with hundreds of others, were protesting a rally hosted by white supremacist groups, The Guardian noted. According to reports, a car drove into a group of counter protesters, resulting in her death.
GoDaddy spokesman, Dan Race, told The Washington Post in an email that The Daily Stormer's post about Heyer was in direct violation of their terms of service.
"Given The Daily Stormer’s latest article comes on the immediate heels of a violent act, we believe this type of article could incite additional violence, which violates our terms of service," he said.
On Monday morning reports emerged that The Daily Stormer had been hacked by hacking collective, Anonymous.
A post appeared on the website’s homepage claiming that it had been taken over by the hacking group.
However, Anonymous has denied any link to the website, stating on Twitter that "We have no confirmation that 'Anonymous' is involved yet. Looks more like a DS stunt. Wonder if they are having issues finding a new host."
