Olympic figure skater Gracie Gold has agreed to go to prom with a Malibu High School teen who made a clever video and then got to ask the athlete again face to face.

Apparently, the Olympian liked the now-viral video done by Dyer Pettijohn as much as the rest of the world. Then Gold got the chance to meet Pettijohn on “Extra” Wednesday, when he surprised her on-set with flowers and an in-person request to go to prom.

Gold, 18, told him, "If it works out, I would love to."

Pettijohn’s video, which has been viewed more than 105,000 times on YouTube, makes comparisons to his lifestyle and Gold’s.

“You’re gorgeous. My mom thinks I’m pretty,” he said in the video. “I live at the beach. You live at the beach. As you may have guessed, I’m single, but that’s not the only thing we have in common. We’re both blonde, 5-foot-something and graceful on the ice.”

The last part was said as Pettijohn wobbled awkwardly on ice skates.

After she saw the video, Gold tweeted:

“I am so happy that she has been so nice about everything, especially since she didn’t know I was surprising her,” Pettijohn wrote to "Good Morning America." “She is just as nice and kind (and gorgeous) on and off camera. She is a really down to Earth person.”

Gold’s acceptance caused a few of her fans some angst:
